Firelight Media Cool Down at BlackStar Film Festival 2022
A look back at Firelight Media’s #BeyondResilience activation at BlackStar Film Festival in Philadelphia on August 4, 2022.
Firelight Media hosted a Beyond Resilience Cool Down at the 2022 BlackStar Film Festival to celebrate the five Firelight-supported filmmakers who premiered films at the festival, including Hazel Gurland-Pooler, Byron Hurt, Jasmín Mara López, Kevin Shaw, and Nadia Shihab.
The Cool Down invited festival goers and our filmmaking community to enjoy frozen delights from our ice cream truck from Popalong Philly, create moments in our photo booth from Old City Photo Booth, wind down with a cold drink, and turn up with a DJ set by BB Basura.
Special thanks to Sabaah Folayan, interim director of our Documentary Lab, and to Doc Lab alum Sian-Pierre Regis for hosting, and to Firelight Media staff members Weenta Girmay, Rachelle Samson, and Rafiah Vitalis for helping to coordinate the event.
