Join Firelight Media at DOC NYC, the largest documentary festival in the U.S. The 2020 Festival runs from November 11-19, with a slate of over 200 films and dozens of live events.

Firelight Media will present a new episode of the Beyond Resilience Series as part of the DOC NYC Live programming. The Festival’s film program also features six films directed by members of the Firelight Media community.

UPDATED November 20, 2020 | ENCORE — DOC NYC EXTENDED

DOC NYC has announced Encore programming, extending the Festival for an additional ten days with DOC NYC Encore, running Friday, November 20 through Sunday, November 29.

Tuesday, November 17, 4:00pm ET | DOC NYC Live: Beyond Inclusion

The latest episode of Beyond Resilience, Beyond Inclusion, will feature a discussion of the new report Beyond Inclusion: The Critical Role of People of Color in the U.S. Documentary Ecosystem authored by Sahar Driver and commissioned by the Ford Foundation’s JustFilms initiative about the contributions, power, and potential of filmmakers of color in nonfiction today, and the role that POC-led and supporting organizations play in fostering and sustaining their work and careers all across the country.

Moderator Sahar Driver will be joined by Chloe Walters-Wallace, who runs Firelight Media’s Groundwork Regional Lab, Madeleine Lim of QWOCMAP (SF), Miriam Bale of Indie Memphis, and Kique Cubero Garcia of AdocPR (Puerto Rico) for a rich discussion about the vital work that is happening today and the possibilities for the future.
